Kendall County Sheriff Office Releases 2020 Annual Administrative Investigations Reports

Kendall County, IL (March 25, 2021, 9:30 AM)

The Kendall County Sheriff’s Office is releasing the 2020 Annual Administrative Internal Investigations Analysis and Reports for both the Operations and Corrections Divisions of the Sheriff’s Office.  It is the policy of the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office to conduct these audits yearly, evaluate our performance, and ensure we are accountable to the citizens we are sworn to serve.  These investigations may be generated internally or externally by inmates or the public.  Of the 60 reports generated across both divisions, approximately 83% were initiated internally and 17% were generated externally.  The Sheriff’s Office will accept complaints anonymously and has been doing so since our Citizen Complaint policy was implemented in June of 2004.

The reports conclude members of the Operations Division were involved in approximately 27,000 incidents in which contact with the public was made.  Of those 27,000 public contacts, 4 or 0.11% resulted in public complaints.   Members of the Corrections Division processed approximately 1,749 inmates into the Kendall County Jail which had an average daily population of 137 inmates.  Corrections staff is in constant contact with the daily population of inmates housed in the jail as well as members of the public which resulted in 2 public complaints and 4 complaints initiated by inmates.

The Annual Administrative Internal Investigations Analysis and Reports are available to view under the “transparency” tab on the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office website by following this link: https://www.co.kendall.il.us/offices/sheriff/transparency/annual-reports

Sheriff Dwight Baird said “I believe transparency is a key pillar necessary to build and maintain trust with our community, and by making these reports available to the public we hope to further build that trust.  The Sheriff’s Office is committed to ensuring all of our deputies are conducting themselves professionally and treating everyone respectfully and with the dignity they deserve.”
