Attention, residents! Scammers are impersonating Chase Bank employees to fraudulently access your bank account. Scammers call you, claim there’s an issue with your account, and trick you into reading back a security code they have texted from Chase Bank to your phone and ask for your PIN. Meanwhile, their accomplice uses that code to request a new bank card which is sent straight to the scammers. Once they have the card, they use the PIN to access funds in your account. If someone asks for a security code or PIN over the phone, HANG UP!
- HOW TO PROTECT YOURSELF:
- Never share security codes or PINs over the phone.
- Banks will NEVER ask for PIN information over the phone.
- If in doubt, hang up and call the number on your bank card.
- Report scam attempts to the Federal Trade Commission: https://reportfraud.ftc.gov/
