Animal Control building

"Kendall County Animal Control is the County agency responsible for the enforcement of the state statutes governing rabies control in domestic companion animals – Our primary purpose! The State of Illinois requires that all dogs and cats be vaccinated against rabies by a licensed veterinarian. Compliance with this law is monitored through the issuance of rabies tags for all dogs and cats residing in the County. All dogs and cats are required to wear their rabies tags when off of the owner’s property. If a pet is lost, rabies tags also provide an excellent means of identifying your pet.

Kendall County Animal Control also handles the following services…

  • Quarantine of biting dogs/cats who are not current on their rabies vaccination at a reduced cost (County Residents only, as space allows)
  • Follow up on Dangerous/Vicious dog concerns for bite incidents within Kendall County
  • Monitoring the quarantine compliance for biting animals where the bite occurred within Kendall County
  • Enforce the county’s ordinance that prohibits dogs from running at large in unincorporated areas
  • House animals for municipal agencies within the County for pets running at large
  • Owner surrender of pets (by appointment) from within the County
  • Animal abuse/neglect complaints in unincorporated Kendall County
  • Microchip program for pets of Kendall County residents"

"Rabies tag purchases and donations may be processed online using the link below, or in person during office hours.  Please visit our fees page for current rabies tag fees. We now accept walk-in viewing for our adoptable dogs and cats, but an appointment is strongly encouraged to help us better assist everyone in a timely fashion. Owner surrender animals of all kinds are still accepted by appointment only in order to prepare for them appropriately."
